10-14-2010, 11:14 PM. So I was curious what the options would be to convert my new (to me) Garand to 7.62x51. I see that Sarco has a .308 barrel, oprod, stock and handguard to do the conversion. Garand Gear recommends Mobil 1 synthetic grease. I got a tub and tried it, works well. I've used white lithium grease, automotive chassis lithium grease, plastilube, graphite grease and maybe the old Swiss rifle grease. All worked pretty well. Generally I'm not sparing with it either.
